Long time, No Update

What can I say? It was a busy latter half of the summer.

Finished the Summer of 09 by meeting my personal challenge and made it to the top of Mt. Herman on Labor Day! It was a beautiful site from the top, I've learned I have a bit of a height phobia...wouldn't go very close to anything that resembled an edge. I've been up twice since then and plan on making the Fall trek up there next weekend. I don't know what the weather will bring after that. It was slightly chilly today. The colors are beautiful!
I call Mt. Herman, Mt. Humira, since it seems I've been doing all kinds of fun things since I started the Humira. It's not all been a cake walk, but I've been doing very well. My fingers are crossed that it continues for a long time.

This picture is from today. I love this time of year!
Later, everybody!

Fun!

The Mental Post-It Note

Originally posted May 22, 2009
Most of the time I think my brain is full of really useless information. You know, like the name of the Brady Bunch dog (Tiger) or like Gordon Sumner is Sting's real name...stuff like that. But lately, I surprise myself. Case in point:

When I was a kid growing up on Elm Street one of my best friends was a girl named Elena. She and her sister, also named Monica, lived across the street. They were Native American and during the summer they would have the opportunity to participate in special cultural activities, classes of a sort. Anyway, I use to tag along with them and learn all kinds of cool things. One of the things we had the most fun doing was creating beadwork using the old methods. We'd sit for hours and hours on end drawing our designs and putting it all together. Anyway, I finally realized why I have picked up so well on my new wrap-style bracelets. I'm using those same methods taught to me all those years ago. I've been pondering the design for so long and all this time I always knew how to do it. The elder tribe members that taught us were really great teachers because now I realize how much of their beading and weaving techniques I'm still using today. Must also be why I'm enjoying them so much...making and wearing. Good times those long summer months.

Those mental Post-It notes have some serious stick.

This picture was taking after I finished the Arthritis Foundation walk a few weeks ago. I'm not doing the 'Five Dollar Foot Long' thing...this is actually my fifth Arthritis Walk. Always a step closer to finding that cure! And yes, it was freezing cold that morning. May up here can be so unpredictable. It's Memorial Day Weekend and our high is going to be in the 60s or so. That's not fun in May!

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Fun!

Have fun!!
